Who are we?
We are the International Club Werne e.V., also known as “ICW”. Around 350 members of our association from Werne and the surrounding area have set themselves the goal of promoting international understanding. This takes place in joint activities here in Werne, through joint trips or the promotion of student, intern and work exchanges.
How do we work?
We promote encounters between people who enjoy dealing with people of all generations and across national borders. We carry out trips to the twin cities and welcome their citizens as guests on return visits.
In Werne, our members have the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss things and spend time together in regular events. The “International Morning Pint” at Sim-Jü is an integral part of our annual program, to which we always welcome delegations from the partner cities. You can find a current overview of dates in our events calendar. Arranging contacts between clubs and organizations as well as schools is also part of our tasks and can be requested from us.
When and why were we founded?
The International Club Werne e.V. was founded on January 8, 1991. As part of the objectives of our association, we are committed to meeting activities, educational, informational and cultural events with the aim of establishing and maintaining personal contacts. We also arrange internships and host families for young people from the twin cities.
The focus of our efforts is on contacts with our partner cities Bailleul (France), Lytham St. Annes (England), Kyritz (Germany), Wałcz (Poland) and Poggibonsi (Italy).
What are we planning?
In addition to intensifying existing friendships, a focus of our work is to further expand newly formed contacts and to bring their clubs into contact. It goes without saying that the previous activities are not neglected.
At the same time, we also strive to include foreign citizens in the activities of our association and to improve understanding between cultures and peoples.
